Imagination Library
Expanding literacy for all Mendocino County children age 0-5
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a program designed to get books in the hands of children and their families. First parents enroll their children in the program. Next, the child will receive a free book in the mail every month, from the time they sign up until their 5th birthday.
The first book is called “The Little Engine That Could” by Watty Piper (Dolly Parton’s favorite) and the rest are tailored to the child’s age. For example, babies will receive hard bound books and 4 ½ year olds will receive paperback books.
Thanks to this program, if a child is enrolled at birth they will have 60 books in their home by the time they enter kindergarten.
