Kits for New Parents in Mendocino County
FIRST 5 Mendocino gives a free crash course in parenting, packed in a neat little box, to new and expecting county families.
Mendocino County Kits for New Parents!
Many parents are overwhelmed by the arrival of a new baby. Family and friends can be thousands of miles away, and there’s so much to learn!
Fortunately, FIRST 5 Mendocino gives a free crash course in parenting, packed in a neat little box, to new and expecting families throughout the county.
The “Kit for New Parents” includes up-to-date information on nutrition, safety, quality child care, health, discipline, and early learning. Most of the information is offered on easy-to-use DVDs. Also included are books for babies; a complete list of local resources for families; and a simple book called “What to Do When Your Child Gets Sick.”
Each year, about 1,000 Kits are distributed countywide by FIRST 5 and its partners. The Kit comes in both Spanish and English, and is worth about $75.
